The Human Element in Marine Automation

On April 11, a conference The Human Element in Marine Automation was held in Southampton, United Kingdom, arranged by the International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC).

Among the conference participants were seafarers, representatives of various shipping companies, the members of IMEC, marine higher education institutions of different countries, international organizations IMO and ITF, as well as leading industry experts on automation and human factor.

Greek flag is no longer largest in DWT terms

As of March 6, 2019, Greek companies controlled 4,017 vessels of various categories, totaling 339.54 million dwt and 198.16 million gross tons. According to data provided by IHS Markit, the numbers represents a drop of 131 vessels, 2.37 million dwt and 1.12 million gross tons from a year earlier. ПРМТУ стало известно, что 30 января 2019 года в результате проведения международной операции по борьбе с незаконным оборотом наркотиков, в 300 км от мыса Святого Викентия, провинция Алгарве, Португалия, в нейтральных водах было задержано судно SEA SCAN 1 (IMO 8417352), на борту которого было обнаружено 2,5 тонны наркотического вещества (кокаина).
