Seafarers' documents validity extended

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Seafarers' identity documents and Medical certificates of those seafarers who are staying onboard are now extended up to June 30, 2021.


Om December 8, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine addressed the letter to International Maritime Organisation clarifying the measures adopted and enforced by Ukraine regarding the validity of the qualification documents of the seafarers who a currently onboard.

The Ministry noted that in case of a further spread in the world and/or in Ukraine of diseases caused by Covid-19 coronavirus disease, the issue of re-extension of all seafarers' qualification documents, which are required by international and national legislation, will be urgently considered.

The MTWTU provided the Ministry with an expert assistance in respect of adapting the document to the STCW Convention requirements.
