European Transport Workers’ Federation

On 24 February 2022 Russia has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which represents an act of war, a gross violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the UN Charter and the fundamental norms and principles of international law. Russian troops have entered into the territory of Ukraine from Belarus and the occupied Crimea, and are attacking Ukrainian cities, conducting an ongoing indiscriminate and disproportionate airstrikes, cruise missiles’ and MLRS’ shellings of critical infrastructure.

The Ukrainian people heroically resist this aggression, fighting for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, for freedom, democracy and equality, for the rule of law. This is a fight not only for Ukraine, this is a heroic battle for the whole of Europe.

On February, 28 the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky (center) signs an application for Ukraine to join the European Union.

Ukraine has been reaffirming its desire to join the European Union for a long time, and now it is time for European countries to support the struggle of Ukrainians for fundamental European principles.

With this in mind, we ask all European transport unions - members of the big family of the European Transport Workers' Federation to immediately contact their governments with a request to support Ukraine's application for membership in the European Union

In Unity,

Oleg Grygoriuk

MTWTU Chairman
