Seafarers’ adaptation onboard and ashore

One of the most challenging issues for seafarers in a well-being context is their ability to adapt quickly and efficiently to a fast changing environment both onboard and ashore. Frequent changes of the lifestyle and getting used to new people require great efforts - physical, mental and emotional.

After severe conditions at sea, another problem always arises - adaptation on the shore. A drastic change of conditions, with huge spaces instead of enclosed ones, with the number of people disproportionately large than onboard a vessel, with the number of tasks and problems that a seafarer has to solve.

Therefore, the MTWTU’s initiative to organize a workshop with a psychologist and business coach Olena Sienko was greatly supported by the seafarers.

During the seminar, seafarers were told about the importance of a proper rest after returning home and how to avoid stress due to mental and physical burnout.
