Andrey Novichkov is free!

On the 28th of December, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed documents for clemency for Iranian student Ali Jaduj who was detained under accusation of espionage in Kharkiv.


It was necessary in order to make an exchange for a sentenced to a death penalty seafarer Andrii Novichkov from Odessa.

Today, o the 8th of January, 2019, Andrii Novichkov was released, which was announced by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko: “Ukrainian seafarer Andrii Novichkov has just been released. Currently he is on the territory of the Embassy of Ukraine in Iran. I congratulate Odessa citizens with the return of our compatriot!”

Recall that in January, 2017, the Ukrainian Chief Officer Andriy Novichkov was detained by the police of Bandar Abbas city under the accusation of deliberate murder of Iranian citizen who jumped overboard the mv Arezoo (flag of Iran) on the 17th of January, 2017, during the vessel’s stay in the Chinese Sea.

In turn, the MTWTU, which took part in Andrii Novichkov case, addressed a letter of gratitude to the Guarantor.
