MLC, 2006 training for Ukrainian seafarers

The MTWTU Advisor to the Chairman, certified MLC, 2006 trainer, Sergii Kazantsev, described the main provisions of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 to Ukrainian seafarers, MTWTU members.

The training was divided into two parts: theoretical and practical, while practical part contained group work and individual task. First, the seafarers were divided into two groups representing the PSC officers and vessel’s administration: PSC officers needed to find the deficiencies as per vessel’s inspection report, MLC,2006, and Part 1 of the Declaration of Compliance with the Labor Standards of the Flag State of the Ship, while the vessel’s administration had to appeal against the PSC’s comments, if possible, and to create a plan on the deficiencies elimination.

The individual practical task was about finding mistakes in a Seafarers’ Employment Agreement.
