Financial Aid

If you are in a difficult financial situation, then no more than once a year you can receive financial assistance from the Union.


Documents required to apply for assistance:


    • Information certificate from the company indicating the period of the last contract and the term of the next contract, with the name of the planned vessel and the length of service in the company;
    • A document confirming a difficult financial situation (hospital reference, receipts for medicines, Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, etc.);
    • Service book;
    • Passport;
    • Identification number;
    • Union Membership Card.


Compensation of expenses for recovery


Under the joint program of the MTWTU and LBSTUS, a seafarer, MTWTU member, may receive partial reimbursement of the costs of sanatorium treatment received in the territory of Ukraine.


Documents required to apply for reimbursement:


    • Information certificate from the company indicating the period of the last contract and the term of the next contract, with the name of the planned vessel and the length of service in the company;
    • Service book;
    • Original receipt for treatment;
    • Reverse ticket to the voucher or sanatorium book;
    • Passport;
    • Identification number;
    • Union Membership Card;
    • Children’s Birth Certificates (if applying for partial reimbursement of the costs of sanatorium treatment of children).


In case a seafarer requires expensive medical treatment, he can also contact the Union for financial assistance or partial reimbursement of medical expenses.


* The amount of assistance depends on many factors, including trade union experience, frequency of appeals, active participation in the Union life and the causes of financial crisis in the family.
